I'm currently enrolled in a chemical engineering course in my college, and in my first year, I'd like to get a nice introductory book on that field of study. I'd prefer that the book covers several topics, but less in-depth analysis of each. Unfortunately the big-list in the Resources for learning Chemistry post does not yet cover this topic yet. With respect to the meta discussion the answer to this question will be amended to that list and this question can be closed as duplicate after the fact. I'm studying chemical engineering for more than two years and what I can tell you is that is not really a lot of "good" books you may read as an introduction.

Material Balance Problem Approach

This book provides an introduction to chemical engineering analysis- which reviews the processes and designs used to manufacture, use, and dispose of chemical products-and to Mathematica, one of the most powerful mathematical software tools available for symbolic, numerical, and graphical computing. Analysis and computation are explained simultaneously. The book covers the core concepts of chemical engineering, ranging from the conservation of mass to chemical kinetics. At the same time the text shows how to use the latest version of Mathematica, from the basics of writing a few lines of code through developing entire analysis programs. Undergraduates taking first courses in chemical engineering and senior undergraduates taking courses in analysis and computing.

For such a process, because an accumulation of mass would be a change with time, we still write mass balances for the individual species of interest. This is particularly true today with our increasing world population and its greater use ehgineering technol- ogy. However. Discharge the acid to an evaporation pond: Evaporation ponds are useful for concentrating waste solutions.
